HW 2

The Moroccan picture on the van

We got up a little earlier only because I woke up before the alarm and wanted to get ahead of the day. The dogs were quiet as the door was closed so the additional warmth encouraged them to sleep on.

The Dog Van was in the same location as we came out onto the track to The Promontory so there was some almost inevitable barking. We made good progress to the rocks and Luis was left with his tree. The only other excitement was a woman with a couple of dogs as we set off with the full contingent for the second Plakaki walk. She came as far as the beach car park then turned back. I was surprised to see someone out early on a Holiday Weekend.

I rode to Paleochora via Panorama with no stops on the way. Petrakis was open but I resisted the temptation to visit.

Janne and Erica were setting off to meet their friends for breakfast in Paleochora. I fed the dogs and was hoping for a restful day until I noticed more arrivals had suddenly appeared in the calendar. I went to the office to collect up the keys and spread them around in the doors.

Much of the remainder of the day was taken up with wandering the camping either putting people onto motorhome spots or into other accommodation. There were also a couple of undocumented arrivals which addedinto the mix. I didn’t seem to be able to walk more than a few paces without someone stopping me for something. Not forgetting two washing machine just to add spice to it all.

I managed to collect in money from some who will leave tomorrow which will make life less complicated as there will be a mass check out. Axel and his wife left and appear to have really enjoyed their stay. They called from reception so I went to say goodbye. An English couple in a Defender arrived whilst the barrier was up and have taken a place in the middle by the showers. They may stay a little while it seems. Apparently, they met Clare and Kim at Koutsounari.

Janne and Erica were clearing up and putting away but we had time for a chat and to collect money for Electricity. I took 130€ for Georgia and 115€ for me! They are staying over in Chania to catch the first flight out in the morning back to Stockholm with no stopover in Copenhagen on this occasion.

The camping has been quite busy and animated with a children’s birthday BBQ as well as a family/staff meal in the Common Room. I was sitting next to a nice couple who own a shop in Chania which sells heating appliances. Apparently, the wood burning stove in the Common Room came from there. It does a good job of heating the space. We had interesting conversations about food and nutrition.

Tomorrow will be busy with everyone checking out but I think I have enough organised to avoid mayhem.

The day started cloudy and remained so for most of the rest of it. The outlook for the next few days is unsettled with the possibility of some rain showers on some days.
