Final Dentist!

The night was cooler despite the door being partially closed, so there was a little fidgeting. Not helped by the stormy conditions which are heading this way. Nevertheless, we were up and out in good time to discover the Italian guy and his dog were back, parked next to the loos in the beach car park.

Our walk went without excitement until the end when a couple on bikes were surrounded by some of the dogs as they gazed out to sea. The couple seemed pleased to see the dogs so I didn’t intervene.

I didn’t need to rush off to Paleochora as I was going in later to see the dentist. Instead, I sat and drank tea whilst exercising my brain. The app tells me I’ve completed a fourteen-day streak. I went a few weeks not using the app and have now discovered how important it is to keep doing it. Things which I could do fairly easily before had become a lot more difficult. It seems to support the theory the brain is like a muscle and gets flabby when lacking regular exercise.

I went to the office to turn off the power as a new air conditioner was to be installed in an adjacent room. I also needed to check-in the French couple who arrived in their motorhome at 21:45 the previous evening. They’d been walking the Samaria Gorge and said the journey to Grammeno had taken a lot longer than expected. They’ve gone out this evening so hopefully, they will find their way back into the camping when they return.

I finally escaped to feed the dogs and give Georgia 5.000€ to pay for the work going on in the camping. I’d counted it carefully however she mentioned it was 20€ short. Panagiotis suggested I should have counted it in front of her however I’ve never done it before. It was a mixture of bills but all carefully separated into 1.000€ packets. She’ll most likely forget anyway…

I prepared for the journey to Paleochora to get my new crown fitted. The dentist tells me that all of my molars are now crowned so there’s little left for him to do. He’s had quite a good run for his money. I mentioned the possibility of olive pits which made him brighten up a little. I didn’t think 400€ too expensive for a root canal job and a crown especially considering what I paid in UK back in 2014.

I popped into Petrakis for some bananas and other bits then hastily set off back to Grammeno as the sky was looking threatening. There were a few raindrops but that was all. The forecast has been threatening the possibility of rain all day and perhaps there may be a little tonight but not much. The weather has been very changeable recently.

Georgia asked me to get some cameras for the kitchen and one for the reception office. I’ve ordered some from China so hopefully, they will arrive reasonably quickly. We seem to go around this loop each year but this time we’re going to need a cable down to the kitchen too. I’m also to provide a monitor for the reception camera. Not that they’ll have time to look at it. But mine is just to do and die…

The receptionist training may have come to its conclusion however I understand bookings will still be Maria’s responsibility. How much longer this archaic system continues remains to be seen.

The new receptionist seems a pleasant person who has an eight-month-old spaniel which is extremely cute. She was at reception when I was sorting out some stuff earlier. Whether it’s possible for her to remain there once things get busy remains to be seen.

I have only to get rid of my existing customers and I’m technically done for the season however the nice lady doesn’t speak French and she might find motorhomes a little challenging. I may offer to assist from time-to-time until Maria arrives. Better that then risk a managerial meltdown and another unexpected departure! Saving people from themselves and all that…

Cooler than yesterday with quite a bit of cloudy and a few drops of rain. There may be a little more rain before the morning.
