Hottest Day

There was slightly less hijinks this morning as we managed to get out of the gate at 04:30 to another warm but moonlit morning. We met Kostas driving away after collecting salt. He no longer collects salt on an industrial scale so ensures he gets in there first by coming early. Often, he’s been and gone before we arrive and there are just his tyre tracks in the sand. Previously, he used to drive further up but has taken to walking the last part and leaving his car off the track. I thought we got up early!

It seemed strange not to see Frank’s VW and caravan by the track as we walk to Azurro. He has definitely left Grammeno so I’ll send him a message to see how far he’s got. He’s been here nearly two years if I recall correctly.

We passed.a man walking down the Promontory, presumably another salt collector, he seemed pleased to see the dogs so wasn’t phased by the early morning rabble. We saw him cycle away later.

The CBs came out with me after I’d deposited the boys and fed Moggy. We played with the balls and ran into the sea as it was more than a little warm this morning.

I did things to my brain before riding to Paleochora and back to check it’s still there. A slight holdup at the rockfall but I was the first to go in a westerly direction.

I wallowed in the sea and then sat on the beach for a few moments before going back to feed the dogs. I needed to decant some more biscuits before I could actually feed them as all of the smaller containers were empty. Silly me!

I made tea and slumped for a while although I’ve done useful things like fix the rear indicators on my bike. The rear cluster which consists of tail and two indicators in a row is attached to the bracket by means of one small screw which doesn’t go very far into a slender piece of plastic. I’d not bothered too much during the winter as there’s little traffic so not so much need for indications. Now that Paleochora is in Summer Mode, there are more people and vehicles.

The repair holdup, apart from necessity, was to find a way to circumvent the flimsy plastic problem. As it turned out, I had two sets of lights sent which included an additional tail light unit. I simply swapped these over but spent some while making a more secure fixing arrangement, this time involving two cable ties, for greater stability and redundancy. I will need to be more careful when removing the cluster to charge the batteries.

I did other IT support type things and have arranged to look at Peter’s computer in Haslemere tomorrow morning. There is still an ongoing problem at Wisdom Sports as they’ve been without Internet for over a day. The supplier claims the problem is not on their section of the link however we’re waiting for a technician to contact the store.

It has been a hot day with under awning temperatures of 37,xºC so plenty of huffing and panting. What we need is an air conditioner to provide some cool air – the vacuum pump is on it’s way! The forecast is for slightly warmer temperatures tomorrow and Saturday.

Another hottest day and probably hotter tomorrow. Little wind and plenty of sunshine in the middle of the day but breezier when I was in the sea.
