Barking Dog in the Night

There was the case of the Barking Dog in the Night which commissaire Maigret would have been happy to investigate. Having been woken from my slumbers, it took a few seconds to work out from whence the sound was coming. I concluded it was from elsewhere in the camping so not my problem. I went back to sleep.

Isabella and Sasha had elected to sleep inside however Maya remained outside without a collar. Fortunately, the night was cool considering the abundance of dogs within. Obi and Skinny were also outside to accompany Maya. There was a little Maya-related barking later in the night but she kindly shut up when requested.

Kostas was no where to be seen just some vehicle tracks to prove he’s already gone. It was proper moonlit so progress was good although still possible to fall over in the shadows. There were fewer motorhomes as the two from yesterday and the vans had left. Some cars were in the car park as well as a Greek camper van.

We completed our walking workouts then returned for a little rest before I rode to Anatoli for bread with a stop at Alonáki on the way back. The sea was almost calm, there was a maggot-drowner unsuccessfully luring fish and the young family with the paddle board. They arrived just as I was leaving which proves they don’t belong to one of the motorhomes as I expected. I think they’re staying in one of the villas adjacent to the camping.

I returned to feed the dogs and make tea for myself. The day of indolence began with a social call to Rodney who was sitting in his van in the middle of nowhere on his way to a customer. He told me his house is finished, the RJS (Royal Junior School) site is sold with outline permission for houses. If done sympathetically, that could be very pleasant with direct access to the A3 via a roundabout and all the earthworks insisted upon when the project was planned. The school is confined to the Farnham Lane site but there’s no nursery or junior years so it’s more a middle school. It’s part of a group of academy schools. Andrea has bought herself a Doberman puppy which she’s training. They, Rodney and Andria, went to Spain for their holiday and said it was very hot. It’s all happening in sunny Hampshire.

I had a support call from Simon as he’s finally transferred the ‘new’ PC over to Stephen’s desk. They were just off to ‘lunch’ so I was able to finish off some details as I’d asked.

Considering it’s now the first week of August, I would expect the camping to be busier. There are people out there, although I choose to ignore them. A little like putting a paper bag over your head. If you can’t see it, it doesn’t exist. The kitchen said they were very busy yesterday and I’ve just seen, what appears to be a genuine review praising the bar/restaurant and kitchen. If only I could copy it to Panagiotis I’d be happy. Google has, in my opinion, made a complete hash of its Business Site by making it accessible via Google Maps and getting rid of the app. It’s now such a pain in the bottom to see or do anything I wonder what they are up to.

Work on the rockfall appears to have stopped with the only noticeable change being there are only two of the three machines present when they were working. I wonder if the work will be completed by Christmas. Please note, I have not specified WHICH Christmas.

No other interesting information other than my feet are dirty and I should have a shower to wash off the salt from this morning’s swim.

The rice is ready, I have fresh bread and the kitchen awaits me!

The animals are trying to tell me something…

Warmer than yesterday and temperature to remain in the lower thirties for the next few days.
