All Alone

In the evening, assisted by Maya and Sasha, I watched an interesting police programme about the West Midlands Drone Unit. The police have been using drones for several years finding it quicker and far less expensive than using the dreaded, noisy helicopter. Their drones are set up for Infra Red so are able to detect hidden bodies as well as heat escaping through the roof on a Weed Factory. In one incident, reported by a member of the public, a gang was about to wreck a rival grow house. The police, with the help of the drones and dog were able to scoop up the people and close down the factory.

I woke up at two for a drink and a drain. The AC had been turned back to 30ºC, a more comfortable temperature. I needed no encouragement to go back to sleep until the alarm.

There was an amazing lack of vehicles along the beach road but still three or four in the car park. We found no FreeLoaders during our travels on the Promontory.

It was warm as we trudged along. Lots of dogs diverting into the sea then shaking themselves off over me. The fact it was hot, humid and windless made it harder.

Isabella and Sasha went AWOL at one point as they were digging on the Big Beach. I was unimpressed they’d just sloped off, a message they probably received. We completed the first walk with no excitements and it was only at the end of the second did the girls discover a man sitting quietly, minding his own business, on the beach. He appeared receptive to their approaches.

I trained by brain before setting off for some bread. Anatoli seemed quieter today so I was served quite quickly and set off back west stopping at Alonáki for a swim. There was a little wind so the sea was wavy. I was all alone on this huge beach. I loafed in the sun to dry off then rode back to feed the dogs and make tea. By this time, there just might, possibly have been someone bathing at Azzuro.

The day warmed up and some of the dogs have spent all day inside the van and are still there. I amused myself until I received a call from Simon to tell me that Stephen was having trouble with his keyboard and mouse which were being unresponsive. I couldn’t see any obvious reason for this so downloaded SpyBot to search for malware but found nothing very exciting. It is just possible that there is a problem with the keyboard and mouse…

I didn’t feel at all active today as I’m still struggling with the after effects of clambering over the van roof which I did again yesterday. I stretched muscles I didn’t even know I had but it will pass in a few days. Reminds me of the week after the first cross country match of the season. I was somewhat younger then…

The day was warm and sunny. The yoga group were present but unobtrusive and I watched interesting, erudite videos on YouTube.

Only ever so slightly warmer than yesterday although the night and early morning were close, airless and between 27-29ºC. It would have been a hot and sticky night. The weather is forecast to be the same for the next few days.
