Petra offered me spinach and rice which came around only a few days ago. I may have appeared tepid but, in fact, it was really delicious! I was watching Endeavour, the prequel to Morse, which only aired its final episode early March this year. I’ve seen the first episode but the reviews are great and it runs into nine seasons with a total of 36 episodes. I’m watching on BritBox.

My second viewing choice was the first episode of Hard Sun, a pre-apocalyptic sci-fi police drama. It gets off to an energetic start and kept me going almost until the end. I only picked it randomly from the list. I shall watch the second episode to see where it goes. The reviewers either loved it or hated it. I have a feeling the viewer just has to go with the flow and not look into the plot, characters or credibility too deeply. After all, a pre-apocalyptic Sci-fi, by its very description provides a reason for an implausible plot.

I retired to bed later as I was enjoying Hard Sun. The night was a little cooler as the AC only came on a couple of times. The fan is constantly circulating the air around the van but the external compressor only activates briefly whenever the temperature is out of limits. It’s good being able to have the van door closed as it cuts out the noises-off which Luis is often unable to resist. Not having the roof vents open as well should hopefully reduce the amount of dust and squalor in the van too.

Morning arrived warm and still so my t-shirt became a fly-swat. A person was sitting in a car in the car park with the courtesy light on as we approached. They probably wondered what was coming but sitting in your car at that time of the morning is a little unusual.

With our first visit to Azzuro completed, it all seemed a lot easier so it was getting light as we came back and the boys went in. I was annoyed as I’d left both of Moggy’s food bowls on top of the fridge in the storeroom so they were not clean when I came to use them. He eats tinned meat due to his dental incapacity so I like to ensure the bowl is clean before reusing it.

We took the thrower and a couple of balls on the Promontory for a second walk. There was plenty of initial racing around but the temperature was heading inexorably towards 31ºC so the remainder of the walk was less intensive.

I paused, rode to Paleochora over Panorama where my thermometer warned me it was already 32ºC. I used a lot of help to get up the hill as I had no will to work myself hard. There was a stop on the way back for a quick dip at Alonáki where the sea was warm and calm. I loafed on the beach until about 10:20 then went back to feed the dogs.

But this morning, there were no DDs to prepare as I’d already done it and they were cooking in the pot – what a relief! I was able to shower then sit down with a cup of tea.

The day warmed up, the floor fan was switched on and I replied to an email from Sue at Inter Sport about installing the new router after business on Sunday. Ray will hopefully not run away from this dirty and unpleasant task. Much of the IT equipment is in the roof area above the changing rooms which is pretty unpleasant.

Other excitements of the day included tidying up in the van, shutting the roof vent above my bed and even changing the bed sheet. With the amount of dust that blows in, I shall have to have a major washing machine event once the main season is over. It’s only when you disturb things you discover quite how minging they are. Anyway, a clean sheet for tonight not that I’ll probably need to get under it.

The dogs spent much of the day inside the van as it was quite hot. They seem happy to go in there and stay in there. The likes of Skinny have a favourite place behind the front windscreen which he sometimes has to share with Oskar. The remaining larger dogs are generally sprawled over the floor making navigation a delicate matter. At least they don’t mind being stepped over and occasionally trodden on.

I have yet to process the DDs which are awaiting my attention in the van. Their rice is ready and waiting in the pot. Shortly, I shall leap to my feet and go inside to complete my duties then feed the dogs.

Warmer than yesterday with a still start. The trend is generally cooler but then I’d expect it in late August.
