Surprise Visitors

The box meal was pasta and Neapolitan Sauce but there was plenty of it and I had loads of salad to go with it. I watched The Professionals who got involved in a scam to flush out someone purporting to sell a secret government truth agent which of course was a scam in itself. It was all good harmless fun.

The evening was warm as was the night leading to a morning a lot cooler with a little southwesterly wind to help keep the mosquitoes at bay.

I took six on the first walk and four on the second. I’m sure we know who the fourth was. Far fewer vehicles today.

After a pause, I rode to Paleochora for bread with a following wind on the outbound trip for a change. There were plenty of people to mow down including some cyclists also using the cycleway. Of all things!

Anatoli was quite busy but the customers seemed to just melt away as I arrived so I was soon on my way back.

I fed the dogs, made another cup of tea and settled down for the morning. There was the Exchange Server at Inter Sport to restart manually as it rarely manages to restart itself.

The dogs started to bark and I could see someone outside the gate. I went to investigate to discover the Swiss couple who stayed the winter before last. The ones who took the cat which met an unfortunate end under a car. They came with one set of parents to have a look around the camping in anticipation of an October stay. We adjourned to the restaurant having visited the nicer of the cabins and they enjoyed some lunch.

There was no noise from the dogs during my extended absence into the camping but they appeared pleased to see me when I came back. I put on their rice and fell asleep!

There was a support call from Mr Lawrence which I dealt with upon awakening.

I’ve set up one of the cunning smart switches so that I can take some individual consumption readings. I’m considering upgrading my PV system. Specifically some additional panels to enable me to generate more electricity during the winter and on cloudy days in Spring and autumn. I’m thinking about building a tracking array of four 450W panels which would effectively provide around 1.5 kW/h or so on an average day. 2,2kW peak is not really enough during the winter to be comfortable. There’s enough storage with 12kW/h just a matter of being able to fill it up quickly enough.

The day has been a little mixed with some cloudy periods during the middle of the day. We are still promised unsettled weather with the possibility of rain.

Manos, who works in the kitchen is the latest victim of the end of season so is going home to return in a couple of weeks to help Toni pack up the bar for the winter. I think this week is going to see the kitchen close unless the poor weather decides to go elsewhere.

Cooler than yesterday but still pretty good for the end of September.
