Monday

A couple of camper vans arrived quite late on which resulted in a delay to the Doggy Dinners with the inevitable knock-on effect. I watched Perry Mason solving another complicated case then diverted to YouTube.

Warmer than recently as I was in a T-shirt and thick fleece but winter shorts. Our walks were uneventful and the boys went back before the second walk to Azzuro. We waited a little then left at 06:40 as dawn was starting to turn to daylight. It was still too dark for ball-throwing but Isabella managed to hang-on to the balls without losing them.

I went to Petrakis for bananas and came away with some wonderful-looking beetroot. The beets were cooked earlier and the stems are in now. The dogs will have the leaves in the next DDs. I bought pulses for the dogs for the last time as they have jumped in price from 1.90€/kilo to 3.30/kilo. I used to put φακές (fakes) in but they were more expensive but will go back to them as they’re now cheaper and better anyway.

After some tea, I went to see the cabin where the Israelis stayed. I put the bedding in the machine but forgot the towels. I’ve since dried the sheets and put them back for Bona to iron. She is working tomatoes in the day, coming to the camping morning and evening only.

I did a lot of wandering around including seeing in two young ladies from Germany who now reside in Ξ1 for the next two nights. Freshly cleaned after the Israelis. There seems to be some laundry still hanging on the lines outside T5. It’s children’s clothes so may have been forgotten either by the North Macedonians or the Israelis.

Mickey has moved his homestead to his old spot on the road where he was last winter. It’s sheltered as well as sunny and provides excellent satellite reception so he can enjoy unlimited football. I can now use his space opposite the showers so everyone’s happy!

Cornelia, from Switzerland came to see me. She arrivegd at Kastelli last Thursday as the ferry was delayed due to the wind. I presume she is out on the beach track as we’ll discover tomorrow morning. The German couple opposite the kitchen are leaving tomorrow after four nights but may return before they leave Crete on 28 October.

Cloudy at first but warmer than yesterday by 0.1ºC and windier in the afternoon. Continuing warm and sunny with a few clouds but with the possibility of rain on Thursday.
