Tuesday

It was much cooler this morning and I was wearing only summer shorts and my dog-walking fleece. It felt decidedly chilly and quite autumnal. Nevertheless, we completed our diurnal visit to Azzuro without incident. The same vans were in the same places. The moon shone, the stars twinkled and the dogs raced around chasing something or other.

We, excluding Oskar, were back at the camping just after six so I fed Moggy and we set off again with Skinny as observer. After the initial splashing into the sea on Isabella’s part, we played intensive ball on the Big Beach with the occasional foray into the sea for good measure. The remainder of the walk back over the rocks and around again was relatively calm until back on Alonáki Beach where Sasha and Maya spotted some albatrosses on the beach so sped after them. Isabella, with a mouth-full of tennis balls, decided against it.

I rode into Paleochora passing Bona’s boys waiting for the school bus on the way. I purchased two polyspora loaves, one round, the other long. The shape makes a deal of difference to the flavour. They are smaller than the brown so might be better.

I delivered my bread orders and returned to feed the dogs and make tea for myself. There was also the matter of a washing machine for the French couple who will want another on Thursday.

I spent the remainder of the morning uploading a new database to the OS website, this time with all of the tables intact. I transferred the sql file to the local machine and used my MacMini to import the tables.

There was a call from ACS with two packages for me containing some BUSBAR and a lightning arrester for my PV system. This is really just a big fuse and some overload breakers which should stop a huge surge of electricity from the panels from wiping out my inverter and associated bits of kit. The fuses should blow to save the rest. The bus bar is for the new fuse box which will protect the domestic side of things and separate the neighbours on their own circuit from tripping out the entire system when the rain trickles behind their outdoor lights!

A German couple were just calling me to ask if they could put their caravan into one of the bays. Their van has grandma and grandad on tour on the back. Apparently, they have around eight grandchildren. I don’t know how long they plan to stay.

In the afternoon, I may have fallen asleep in the sunshine and then fiddled with my newly-arrived packages. There will be a power outage tomorrow from nine so I may make use of the time to swap out the main fuse box and divide up the loads a little.

A cold start with a low of 16.7ºC, the coldest since the summer. It felt autumnal to say the least. The sky has been mostly clear all day with plenty of sunshine and warmth. It was slightly cooler than yesterday. Saturday is setting itself up to be wet, mostly later in the day by the present reckoning.
