Thursday

I had another quiet early night for some reason. Probably as I was feeling tired.

More vans in or near the car park including the couple who checked-in then checked-out of the camping. They are parked outside but paying to use the showers and toilets in the camping. I noticed the car park toilets have been locked for a few days and the portaloo-type cubicles which have blown about the car park during winter gales in the past have been positioned on front of the two toilets. Thankfully, they were both left open last winter but sadly not this.

We walked under the decreasingly moonlit starry sky to the end of the Promontory then to Azzuro. There were no complications other than diminishing moonlight as the moon progresses through its phase. The dogs seemed to keep together particularly well this morning.

Skinny is becoming a frequent flyer with the girls and came out again to watch them race about and argue. Skinny seems totally uninterested in the ball but dashes around if the mood takes him. The girls were the same as always; noisy and active.

I rode to Paleochora to get some bread, just one brown loaf today, and delivered it to Lucia who cut off a chunk for herself whilst I petted Betty, her Setter. It seems I’m not the only one who’d like to see the back of the change in hour twice per year. Lucia goes to bed even earlier than I so is always up when I arrive with the bread.

I fed the dogs then sat down to eventually do some work on the dreaded website move. The current stumbling block is a database error which points to a connection problem to do with credentials. I’ve changed the credentials so don’t know why it still won’t connect. More research required. It’s frustrating but also interesting.

Georgia came to the camping on her way to visit her mother and have a meal with other family members. She kindly brought me a doggy bag of Gemista, my favourite. This evening I have some beans which didn’t get cooked yesterday due to my work on the fuse panel and the resulting lack of electricity for cooking.

I gave the October money to her and she asked me about ideas to replace the current serving arrangements at the restaurant. It’s mostly due to the massive wage bill. I’m glad to see she’s interested in reducing costs over increasing prices. All about ‘elasticity of demand’ as I was taught during my economics lectures.

There was just one arrival today. An Austrian couple who plan to stay for a couple of nights and who are in front of the restaurant kitchen opposite Lucia.

A mild and mainly clear start with a warm and sunny day accompanied by some wind. The forecast is still unsettled from Saturday until Monday.
