Hercule found himself in a distinguished boarding school for girls to present an award. He was then asked to stay to help find a successor for the head who planned to step back. Naturally, it wasn’t long before the first of several murders occurred. Hercule had to deal with a fishy princess, serving and former MI5 spies as well as track down the murderer. There was also the matter of rubies smuggled in the handle of a tennis racquet.

My next entertainment was from the brave chaps of the police corruption department who are in deep to a potentially serious investigation which could have far-reaching consequences for senior policemen. Skinny went outside where he remained up until morning and may possibly have absconded as he doesn’t like the wind. He was waiting as we returned from our somewhat brief walk.

I didn’t get up until seven as I saw no point in tramping about in the cold and dark. The walk was to the end of the Promontory and back with time to lose a couple of tennis balls. The dogs headed resolutely back to the van once we reached the gap in the fence. I didn’t plan to argue as it was quite unpleasant.

I fed them even though it was earlier than normal. I went to discover the large bins scattered around the entrance with one lying on its side blocking the entrance barrier. The wind had blown the tree into the shading over Ξ3 and the glass panels in the kitchen door had been broken. I reported the defects to Toni and Georgia in the form of photos.

Toni and I removed the broken glazing panels although much of the glass had been swept up. Both large bins are outside the kitchen until the wind calms as one is quite full of rubbish which I do not wish to be distributed about the camping.

I returned to the dogs to complete the DDs and join them inside. It was sunny outside but still very windy and not warm. There had been a lull when I briefly contemplated going to Anatoli but Lucia decided to walk Betty there to collect bread which we shared.

I spent some time outside in my chair but it was very cold due to the strong, northerly wind despite the sun doing its best. The wind was blowing rain over the mountains as is common at this time of year.

The couple in the van checked out to go to Souda not to catch their ferry. They will wait until it eventually arrives in a day or so.

I could see the wind had whipped up the sea in all directions considerably reducing visibility. There were reports of motorcyclists weaving all over the road and a large boat which had brought refugees beached at Alonáki. I didn’t see it until it got light yesterday and wondered what it was doing there. The talk of refugees may be apocryphal or the product of Facebook machinations.

There was a small support call from Inter Sport and a brief conversation with Sue. I was glad not to have further requests.

It is 17:00. The heating has been on most of the afternoon as the battery was fully charged and there was plenty of sunshine which seemed a pity to waste. There was a brief event earlier where the Pot, the AC and the kettle were turned on. The inverter took exception to this, probably as the AC is an inductive load and also the connection to the Grid isn’t present due to an earth missing I need to deal with this but the terminal is too small to properly take two cable. The inverter sheds momentary excessive loads to the grid but not when it’s disconnected, as I discovered.

I have just brought in Oskar and, to a lesser extent, Sasha as they decided to attract my attention by making a racket outside. Maya and Obi are still outside although I suspect Obi will soon decide it’s warmer within. It would be warmer and more comfortable under these conditions if this van wasn’t so leaky and there was a lot more insulation. But, as winter only lasts a few days each year…

Time for the φακές awaiting me in the pot. An ideal, warming meal for a cold, windy day.

It can be seen that the prominent features of today have been wind and temperature. There has been a lot of wind and much cooler temperatures. The wind should subside during the night although it sounds quieter outside already. Things should warm up by the end of the week. But it has been stupidly warm recently…
