Hottest Day

I watched the second episode of This Is Going To Hurt but gave up before the end which I’m advised is a shame as it’s worth continuing with. I’ll give it another go. I saw the final episode of season three of Unforgotten when they finally get their man who eventually gives up other information leading to a number of other, previous victims.

It was already nineteen degrees but I took my zip-up fleece as it was windy. I dispensed with the fleece on the second walk. It was fairly clear but windy as we crossed the rocks and walked towards Azzuro. The wind was predominantly westerly. It soon got light which makes life a lot easier.

The girls came out onto the Promontory with the ball and we did the rocks again. After initial enthusiasm for the ball, the outing settled into a walk and then back. Almost 8km.

It was still early so I made tea and got on with some other stuff as I wanted to go to the bakery and then ACS to pick up my replacement Apple Watch SE which arrived in Paleochora last Friday. Had I have been quicker off the mark I could have had it then. With the holiday on Monday and departures yesterday, it had to wait. I went to ACS, the bakery and then Petrakis as I realised I was low on cucumber. I also bought a big jar of Kalamata olives. The same price as over the counter with the added bonus of a useful container at the end.

I rode back with the wind helping me significantly as it was strengthening. I struggled with the bike as it wanted to take me down to where Lucia’s van wasn’t as I’ve been sharing a loaf of bread with her since October. Fresh bread every day. Now, every other day.

It was getting warmer so I removed some layers and put my new watch on to charge before releasing and feeding the dogs. I made tea after washing up and then went to set up my watch. It’s strange being able to see the screen again and also red as that was virtually non-existent. The screen looked completely different on the new watch. The watches appear to work in tandem and the phone recognises which one you’re wearing so I imagine a workout on one or the other still registers. Tomorrow, I’ll find out .

Other than a wash for the couple with the big Mercedes truck, the afternoon was very calm. I had a couple of phone calls during the day. One at 08:25 from an Austrian enquiring whether the camping was open and threatening to come in a couple of days with his motorhome. A German woman, who’d previously spoken to Maria, called so I redirected her back to Maria as I didn’t want to get involved even though the booking was for 1st April. Jamie’s mummy arrived but had received inaccurate information about the accommodation cost so we had to sort that out. I wrote to Jessica who has cancelled her T3 reservation as they will bring their van and come by road as they can take a longer time away. I also wrote to the nice Austrian lady who was here in October. She sent me a pet donation of 50€ via Lucia for which I thanked her.

I fed the dogs so now we’re all inside as it’s dark and windy outside. The night may be windy but it should calm down tomorrow.

Lucia tells me she’s made it to the mainland and is safely tucked up on a camping there. She will travel again tomorrow as she has a ferry to catch from Patras.

Another day bites the dust…

A windy but fairly clear start leading to the hottest day of the year so far. The wind should calm down tomorrow and the day should be sunny.
