Stupidly Warm

A bank robbery was the main theme of Endeavour. Thursday received a gunshot wound during a previous episode and some of the bullet remained in his lung. His cough gradually got worse and he finally admitted the doctor had given him three weeks to live. Morse and Thursday’s daughter found themselves participating in the bank raid as she worked there and Morse was investigating at the time it took place.

Thursday was suspended as there was a complaint about his heavy-handed approach to extracting information from an informant. Strange was just as bad but Morse was appalled. It was all a little difficult. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

The alarm was just after four today as I’m resetting my personal clock in anticipation of Sunday’s bi-annual time change. At present I have plenty of time once we come back from our walks due to the early start. That will disappear on Sunday as I’ll lose an hour.

There were maggots on the Promotory as we walked back later in daylight. I feel sure they were there before just that we couldn’t see them. It was stupidly warm considering what I wasn’t wearing but there had been some wind as I was getting ready. I left my fleece on the fence post and rolled up my sleeves as we walked to Azzuro and back. I’d discarded my winter socks in favour of short, thin ones the previous evening. I don’t wear socks during the day unless it’s cold.

I rode to Paleochora after a cup of tea and some emails. The latter were very tasty containing no kilojoules whatsoever. There was quite a strong easterly wind as I rode into Paleochora and a similarly strong westerly one as I rode back. I didn’t think that was playing the game.

I fed the dogs and made tea once back then relaxed in my chair in the sun for a little while. I had put washing into the machine earlier which I removed and hung up. It was mostly bedding and a few clothes. I thought it about time to consider the Spring Bed.

I spent time investigating ways to invest money and signed up with Nutmeg for a stocks ISA. I just need to decide how much money to put in it. I have until 5 April for this year’s allowance.

The Austrian chap who called the other morning arrived with his Sprinter and wife. They have two mountain bikes on the back too. They have taken the spot occupied by Lucia for so long. I don’t know how long they plan to stay. They seemed pleased we had glass recycling and solar showers too.

I spent part of the afternoon reading Peter’s script for Ill Met By Moonlight. He was working on this in 2020 when he came to Grammeno and was researching it when the lockdown began. He was marooned at Koutsounari for the duration

I folded up my clothes and put them away after making my bed. I’ve been organised for a change. The afternoon was sunny and warm so I lost parts of it. Getting up at 04:05 and walking 8km might have contributed to it too.

The dogs informed me it was time to feed them but they had to wait until the cats were fed. It’s quiet here now they’ve been fed and the chainsaw at CBV has stopped its racket. I’ve made my food, the hot part of it is depressurising gradually so soon I shall depart inside to eat it.

I wore my new watch for most of the day. It was surprising to see that the display is colour and not shades of grey. I could actually read it for a change. It seemed a little confused whether it should be displaying kilocalories or kilojoules but finally made up its mind with a little prompting. The fact the battery lasts all day is a blessing too!

The hottest day of the year with a high of 23.5ºC at 08:50! I felt it was rather warm as I rode back from Paleochora. The day started hazy with the moon struggling vainly as time went on. It was quite windy with a complete about-face at one point. Tomorrow is forecast to be warmer so we might get some bookings for the weekend even.
