All go here!!

I went with the Small Dogs to the beach in the evening and caused a traffic backlog on Grammeno beach as a lady, in her car, with two sons, stopped to look at the Small Dogs to ask if they were brother and sister. I replied that, as they are both boys, it might be a problem. The next car contained Nice Lady from the supermarket with her two sons and then one of the customers from the supermarket was waiting patiently behind. Arriving at the beach we went to see if Alex was at the end of the promontory which he was. We chatted and he played with the dogs and then we went to the beach for a swim. Coming back, I ran into a Greek guy who, with his wife and daughter, were sleeping on the beach in the morning. He was laying on the sand but got up when I arrived. It transpired that he runs a sea kayaking business in Santorini and had come to Crete on other business but was taking some time out. Then came, what looked like a couple of Italian families with some young boys who wanted to pet the dogs whilst we talked about Greece and tourism etc. The Italians are staying at Yannis’ Villas not far away.

Returning to Grammeno, I bumped into Ursula and Tony who asked if I’d come up for a drink so I grabbed some food, having fed the dogs and went up to join them. Tony fell asleep eventually but Ursula and I carried on talking until after midnight. This morning I jumped out of bed to try to see the rat which keeps playing football on my van roof but he was off like a shot. Then went to the beach to wake up Alex who had been pestered by mosquitoes much of the night. We chatted some more whilst Alex threw Boris’ ball and then we went to the beach for a swim. I had a shower and thence off to the supermarket where I bumped into Alex who was stocking up before leaving for Elafonissi. On my way back to Grammeno, with the Small Dogs running beside me, a lady, who turned out to be the owner’s niece, drew up alongside in her car, to ask how I was. I went to the cottage and then we went to the beach to eat watermelon sitting in the shade of the trees. Auntie was nowhere to be seen so it was just the two of us which should get tongues wagging. Taking back the chairs and clutter we met up with auntie who was waiting for some guys who were doing some work in her garden across the road where stands the fig trees. Later I will try to obtain permission to take figs from the trees during her absence.
If they have time later, we will have coffee before they both return to Chania where Auntie is seeing the doctor about the recurring pain in her leg. I have found out interesting information about who owns what and the various goings-on in the area.
All the dogs are tired following their prolonged morning walk although there is a cat/dog/rat which keeps appearing and disturbing the peace.
