Visit from Georgia

Georgia came to see me earlier to say that her mother is likely to be in Chania hospital for some time, following extensive surgery. From Georgia’s description, the surgery was long and complicated. Remember that Georgia only speaks Greek, so there may be some ‘loss’ in translation. In any event, it appears to have affected her kidneys and liver. Remember that her mother was in hospital in Athens earlier in the year. Her poor mother had quite a lot of hospital visits so must be really fed up. Georgia always sends Manolis to visit as she has a phobia for hospitals.

She was also talking about cleaning out both the storeroom and the workshop. She mentioned putting a door on the storeroom to prevent every Tom, Dick and Harriet from wandering in. But then, I won’t hold my breath. I’ve been here before.

The camping has a few new arrivals including a young German couple I chatted to for a while. Just doing my bit to make the customers feel welcome. They were going to take a rental tent fairly close to me, but I think they settled for one elsewhere. Chatting to the new German couple in T1: they also come from Berlin like their predecessors. He studied in London for his doctorate in electronic engineering and his wife worked there. They have a small son who likes diggers.

Antonis appeared this morning bearing a new hose for me and 30m of chain to replace the rope around Janne and Erica’s caravan. The rope simply rotted in the sun, virtually turning to dust. Since last year’s experience with people camping on their decking, Erica and Janne have been a little sensitive about their van. Now they have a nice, shiny, new chain which will not rot in the sun. I have a new hose which is triple protected and guaranteed for TEN years!

Getting dark so I’d better put the Small Dogs to bed.
