Roof painted!

Well, nearly anyway. I have painted the expanded foam which Antonis put between the awning box and the roof and given most of the roof a second coat. There should, hopefully, be no more leaks although I need to finish off a small part of the roof when I get some more paint. We might have some rain this weekend so I’ll know if my work has been successful.

On the Dave walk, we bumped into a British couple who have been coming to `Crete for years. He would happily move here at a moment’s notice but she is not so keen to take the plunge. They have a dog and Eileen is keen to do some volunteering so contacted PAWS today. Kevin said he started out in Zimbabwe and felt that Crete was quite close as regards landscape. The deal is that they stay the winter to see how it goes and maybe make a decision in six months. A bit like me really. I came in September and stayed for six months before returning to UK to sell up.

Antonis and his little friends were shooting at each other so we confined our walk to the first part of the promontory. Stelios, who runs the Cedar Bay bar, was taking back the loungers using a trailer. I now know what the racket was which was making the dogs bark earlier.

The young Greek Guy on the camping now tells me he might stay on longer so I lent him my old laptop so he can access the Internet and watch films online. I think he gets a bit bored there on his own. I went back a little later and spent some time with him.

My shoulder was aching a bit after my painting activities, not through painting but probably more from climbing up onto the roof. The ladder’s a bit short so it’s necessary to haul oneself up onto the first rung. I had a nice hot shower when I finished so now it’s ok.
