Horrid weather again

Last night was windy and rainy. More windy than rainy. Most of yesterday was heavy showers and a little sunshine. It’s beginning to get very boring now especially managing all the dogs. Dave and Millie are in the storeroom and Boris and the Brown Dogs are in the van. Keeping the Small Dogs dry is the problem as they like to wander around in the rain to get wet. Then wonder why it’s cold. Feeding them is also not amusing as their run has a significant lake and gets quite muddy. Dave is fed in the storeroom and the others either in the van or under the awning in the tent. This is where the investment in awning and tent prove their worth. The decking also as not too much sand is dragged into the van and I can even go in there with boots on without bringing most of Grammeno with me.

The wind got up to 78.5km/h last night which equates to 50mph. The awning and tent survived but there was a lot of creaking and rattling going on. Loud flapping of the tent and violent shaking of the van. The wind itself shakes the van but the awning and tent make their own contribution. Having fallen asleep on the rear seat, I decided to stay there until the wind calmed. The Brown Dogs and also Boris were quite concerned and I thought I might also have to go outside to settle the Small Dogs in their houses. Millie and Dave were the best off in the storeroom where it is sheltered and dry. Obi and Luis were down one side of me and Fido was laying on me. Boris was on the floor close by making use of the heat from the vent. The heating was on for a long time yesterday so I expect the bottle to run out this evening. It has lasted two weeks so far but it has been quite cold and I’ve had to use the heat in the day as well.
I finally went to bed around 02:00 having rearranged the Brown Dogs and gone out to Heidi and Minnie once to calm them down. It was very windy even though their houses are in the most sheltered position next to the fence and the trees at the north end of their enclosure.
Today has been pretty poor with frequent showers and quite short sunny intervals. The ground is constantly wet and water pours from the drainage pipes from the storeroom roof creating a lake outside the gate requiring a detour to avoid drowning or paddling. Hopefully, the forecast is correct and tomorrow will be sunny. We could certainly do with a break from all this unremitting rain and wind.
