And, before you know it…

It’s Clean Monday again! Orthodox Easter is at the same time as everyone else this year which is why Clean Monday has crept up unnoticed. It is a public holiday so Georgia and Maria have friends staying in one of the chalets and Manos and Elitsa’s son and daughter in law in the other. T1 is occupied by Albanians.

This morning I received a message from Georgia in Greek, inviting me to lunch at 14:00. Her mother was presiding so we kicked off dead on 14:00. There were eight of us around the table including Georgia’s brother Manos and Yiannis his son. Georgia, Maria and I then talked about the camping, cameras, security and a number of other things. She has been bugging me about security cameras for a couple of years. Last year I had an excuse due to my hernia but this year we need to do it. At least if I do it, I have full control of the project and at all times afterwards. We also discussed dogs as Georgia has just sprouted number 5. A sweet little girl who is lovely. I suggested I might try to get my friend Jo, who has just retired, to act as UK contact for finding homes for our dogs. People know that Grammeno is a dog magnet so seem to be dumping their dogs on the camping. Jo needs something to occupy herself, and she is very much into helping animals, so I will try to persuade her to take on this task. She was in sales, so should be just the person. She is also very capable and passionate about animal welfare. I’ve tried a couple of agencies in UK but most are already overwhelmed.
There are still problems with the trees so they are going to be sprayed again. This means that the dogs will not be allowed to go free in the camping as the product for the trees is toxic to animals for three days following treatment. Seeing as Micky and No5 are free, I offered to put them up during the daytime with the Small Dogs. They are roughly the same age and it will also hopefully help them all to get along better and stop some of the nuisance visits from Micky. Micky and No5 are also in need of a visit to the vet so that is next on my list.
It has been cloudy nearly all day with a little rain around 13:30. I put Millie and Charlie in their houses inside as it was raining before I went to eat. They were stuck in there until 17:30 when I came back. The evening walk was somewhat later and we ended up coming back in the dark. At least the rain had stopped so I was able to feed them and put them to bed.
Dave is still having problems with his eyes so I have been treating them as well today. Georgia went into the storeroom yesterday and was concerned that Dave didn’t respond when she went in. I assured her that he was ok just the he doesn’t hear at all well and he’s having eye trouble at the moment. After all, if you accept that dog years are 7x human years, that makes him 91. So he’s not doing badly really. Just in need of a bit of management.
Having been fed by Georgia’s mother, I will not need to eat for another four weeks or so, which is a bit tricky as we’re going to do it all again tomorrow at 14:00. I’m drinking peppermint tea. I had a couple of glasses of wine at lunchtime so have had my ration for today.
