Wi-Friday

I’m not able to be as original as Ursula with my blog title however it explains roughly what I have been doing today. Link to Ursula’s blog

I received an email from Georgia to say that she has been unable to access the camera in the bar for the past two evenings. I know why this is because the WiFi access point on the communal kitchen faces the wrong way and the access point itself is less than reliable. Added to that, the entire camping, plus any freeloaders, are trying to connect to it. I decided that I didn’t feel much like putting in all the replacement cabling so put in my backup access point on a pole close to Georgia’s house to delay the eventual task. I’ve not been using my backup router for a while, since CBV decided to use a different system to provide WiFi for their guests. They got fed up with everyone having the password then using their WiFi for nothing. They tried changing it, and I managed to crack it. With my cable direct to the office, I no longer rely on the Grammeno WiFi as I have my own. Georgia does and it’s not able to properly display the video from the bar. The system I installed earlier is not going to improve things very much as it is reliant upon the already dodgy main access point. At least now she will have a stronger signal!

I then had the cunning plan to use another access point which I no longer use myself. It was a cheap one I got as an experiment. The same as the camping use however I have installed a different software. It has a problem with the antiquated security protocol used on the camping. If, and when, we deply new routers all over the camping, I shall completely change all the passwords and protocols however, at the busiest time of the year, it might cause a certain amount of disruption.

This exercise has taken up quite a chunk of the day and unfortunately we are not really much further forward. I might steal the other access point to see if it is any more reliable than the one on the kitchen. I might put the kitchen one up by the bar where is is less used. It’s all just one big bodge-up. It can all be sorted during the winter.

The dogs have been fed and the whole of this compound is in the shade. The temperature has fallen from today’s high of 34.2C to just below 27C. It’s more comfortable when the nights are cooler and the days not quite so hot. Still hot enough for those who wish to bake on the beach and to splash around in the sea. I don’t do baking and only splash sometimes in the early mornings, so it makes no difference to me.

I can hear English voices nearby so suspect they are in T1. Lots of earnest conversation between two men. Not interesting enough to warrent any careful attention however.

Very little banging and hammering from across the fence today as I think Janne and Ursula have been out for most of the time. I was unaware of this as I was jumping around on the storeroom roof and going up ladders to screw things to wooden poles. The dogs behaved nicely whilst I was out doing my thing although I was back and forth a fair bit. Oskar likes to make his presence felt occasionally but also manages to be quiet when asked.

I had risen from my chair to begin the going to bed procedure but they seem to be having so much fun playing about, it would be a shame to stop them.
