U&T off to Omolos

This morning Ursula and Tony left for an adventure to Omolos, a mountain not far from Chania. They have a room for the night so that they can then go on to pick up Anne, who arrives tomorrow noon(ish). The weather’s cooler now so time to get out and about as there’s no excuse for sitting in the shade snoozing due to the heat.

Our morning walk went reasonably well once we changed location away from the horrid treasure someone had kindly left at the end of the Promontory. Ursula’s ‘prize’ for arriving first was for Heidi to discover the aforementioned unpleasantness then decide to roll in same. Apparently, she was no longer nice to know. Forewarned, I quickly took the others off to the high, sandy part where we remained until the latter part of the walk. Not knowing which of the Little Darlings might have also taken the opportunity to roll, I decided I would ignore them all equally, especially Heidi. Near the end, we went down to the Small Beach in the hope they would decide to swim and wash off any contamination. Ursula adopted a more proactive approach by putting Heidi on a lead and walking into the sea with her. She washed her off as best she could, not letting her get out until she was satisfied Heidi was less polluted. Some of the others also decided to go for a paddle, then roll in the sand on the beach.

Back up at the top, to recover Boris’ abandoned ball, they enjoyed some treats before going back to the camping.

Heidi was subjected to further washing once back in the camping. This time with sweet-smelling doggy shampoo.

Later, I got on with some IT stuff and did some electronics work in the afternoon. We went out for an evening walk at 18:00, however, there will still lots of people as well as a couple of dogs. I had to keep them on the lead so it was a bit of a disappointment. One of the dogs out walking was particularly yappy and highly strung, making things even more difficult.

Back to the Ranch for food followed by bed. Dave and Obi went up to the office where we chatted to Maria and Georgia. A friend from Athens was also there. Georgia is going to Bulgaria and Roumania to a bowling tournament with the Chania bowling club. She asked if I could set up a way for her to view the bar camera from her phone. She can now access the camera from her phone inside and outside the camping. That should provide some excitement during her ‘holiday’.

The weather forecast indicates that it is going to become a little unsettled for a while which is a shame as Anne arrives tomorrow. Hopefully, she will be able to do the things she wants despite the weather.

Talk of rain and the inevitable fall in temperature. I think it’s about time to put up the tent for the winter. Maybe a job for the morning.

Time for a shower and then something to eat.
