Gathering of the clans

It was dark when i woke up and the stove was out. I got up to find my iPad and write my blog. It was still pleasantly warm in the shepherd’s hut as I continued with Terry’s laptop and blogged.

As it got lighter I got up and cleared away the bed and put my bedding back in the car. The farmer was checking his sheep in the adjacent field and later a guy came in with a small dog which enjoyed the fat left from the chicken.

I took some photos of the huts and surroundings before dismantling the fire pit and tripod. Putting it all in the hut seemed like a good plan and soon everything was tidily put away and the door closed.

Children were going to school as I struggled across town back to Glebe Close to try to progress Terry’s laptop. Soon Terry and Del arrived by train and were collected by Helen, Martyn and Eleanor from the station on the way back from the supermarket.

I walked into town to see Simon before making my way to Aqua for the Birthday Lunch. Edward was present having been wrenched from his sleep following his night duty. He seemed to be quite used to broken sleep patterns as he explained his shift rotation.

The vegan menu had a good selection of dishes as those around me chomped away at roast lamb and other meaty choices. We ate and drank, water in my case, as I’d had sufficient wine the night before. The restaurant staff proposed they bring a cake with candles and sang Happy Birthday which we all duely did.

Following the meal, Terry set off for Ally Pally by train after a visit to Greyfriars Court. I went to Inter Sport then the post office to collect an Amazon pickup. I met Denise outside the office on her way back from the cake shop for Clive. He made coffee and he described Clifford Dan’s memorial service on Monday.

I completed my exercise circle as I walked back to Glebe Close via Rotten Row. Sophie and Russell were now there as were Emily and Johannes. Simon had returned from his London interview with Nick, one of his stage friends, a nice lad with a stainless steel (!) Apple Watch (2), a 21st birthday gift. We chatted whilst eating baked potatoes, beans and sausages. Mo had the energy to blow out yet more candles as we all sang Happy Birthday.

Russell was the first to leave as he has a pyrotechnic exam the following day. He was followed by Emily and Johannes and Eleanor, who did a run back to Greyfriars Court. The remained continued chatting before going off to bed.

Derek and I continued talking until later in the morning as it’s been a while since we met up. The late hour didn’t prevent me from waking up at 05:30 as Eleanor’s student, a South Korean called Russell (!) was burning the midnight oil. I understand he has nocturnal tendencies. In any event, I don’t believe he actually exists as he, like the Abdominal Snowman, leaves traces and reports of sightings with no real concrete evidence.
