9.5 and falling

It was a quiet night dog-wise, to my surprise. Considering the number of dogs and the cold temperature, it was quiet. But how was I to get out of the camping when Extra-Dog was camped out at the bar, right next to the sliding gates? It would not have been possible for me to get them out that way without barking the camping down. The Albanians are getting up at that time but that’s not really the point. I took them out of the small gate but this requires a different routine so we had to think about that for a few seconds. It is also quite near to Georgia’s dogs and requires doubling back to get out as the gate is not on the way.

We managed to get out and have our walk without making noise or getting very wet. As I had them all ready to go, it started to rain. Just as forecast! It was only light rain, however, I intended taking a wide berth far onto the beach, to avoid the possibility of disturbing the Extra-Dog and the consequent barkathon. This made us more exposed to the north wind which was delivering the rain.

We arrived at the end of the Promontory and then down came the rain all proper-like. There was little wind-drift so we huddled under the rocky overhang in the dry. As much as it’s possible to huddle with eight soggy doggies and remain dry. Cheeky Pea went under my legs as I crouched down. We were there for quite a few minutes during which nearly 8mm of rain fell. Being out in that would not have been funny.

I could see the end of the black clouds from under the rock so we emerged to walk the rocks and for me to manage all six laps of my 3km run.

There was quite a bit of barking as we approached the camping as Extra-Dog was having a barking competition with Georgia’s dogs. I then fed mine before taking out Dave, Πέντε and Extra-Dog. It was sunny by this time, however, E-D was more interested in food than walking so was to be found in the camping eyeing-up the (now empty) overflowing rubbish bins. Anyway, the other two had a good walk and Dave completed his 1.5km in around 40 minutes.

I’d decided that E-D could stay around for about 24 hours but that I could not keep him and Georgia already has five, so he had to go. I fed him and we went for another wander on the beach whereupon he disappeared giving Πέντε and me the opportunity to enter the camping via the main gate. Since then he has been relegated to the beach but I snuck out earlier to deliver some food and water to the Ammos Beach Bar. If he’s sensible, finds the food and keeps out of everyone’s way, there is no reason why this arrangement shouldn’t continue for a while.

Apart from mucking around with dogs, I didn’t have time to go to Paleochora and I’ve done lots of IT work.

Georgia visited to organise renovation works to the three static vans. She has decided that there is no point in trying to get the new wooden chalets completed for this season as no one knows when all of the materials will be available. T1-T3 are in need of some work and more than a face-lift!

She told me that she will hear from Cosmote (AKA OTE – Greek telephone company now owned by the Germans) about the faster broadband tomorrow so we can consider the prices. She is looking at getting a laptop to replace the horrid computer in her accommodation. This can be dragged back to Chania in the winter, go to the office etc.

We are also going to do up the kitchens and have a couple of new, larger wooden cabins!

A new website at last! I have to contact the guy and have conversations of a technical nature. This time, I’m hoping it will actually happen

There are new Albanians in Ξ5 but she says that is now the lot. I said I didn’t believe her but apparently, there is an organised group coming so the other accommodation will be required for them.
