Two days in a row!

I was walking up the Promontory at 04:45 yet Ursula and Heidi were still there before us! It was dark when I went out running and I only turned off my torch for the last fifteen minutes of the return leg. The torch is not for seeing but for being seen. There are street lights in the populated parts of the route and enough light from the sky to see well enough for the remainder. I passed the lady from Paleochora quite early on. Assuming she is running out of the centre of Paleochora, I reckon she is probably doing around 10km.

We had a cup of tea and then Ursula went off to do some shopping at Petrakis. I was struggling with a laptop so left a little later than usual. It was a quick in-and-out job as I knew I was out to lunch for the second day in a row so didn’t require much shopping.

Luis had been locked into one of the houses when I got back as he was noisy in my absence. He remained there until I came back after breakfast. All the other dogs were wonderfully quiet. Luis just cannot resist any opportunity to make a fuss about something. I could hear him singing to the camping as I walked to Houmas restaurant later. His voice travels quite a long way…

Anny, Mary and Ken were waiting at the restaurant with Tony and Ursula as I arrived. We had another fantastic meal: large black beans, mountain greens and lots of other vegetables and, of course, a salad. For the others, there was a wide variety to choose from. The Black Beans were particularly yummy and need to be replicated in my Pot. The others had been enjoying the sea and the beach in the morning but returned to their hotel after the meal. They leave for their flight back to UK tomorrow morning and then off to southwest France for a few days next week. I think Mary and Ken are going back to New Zealand after that. It seems they have enjoyed their stay in Crete.

I walked back to Grammeno and replied to a couple of reviews left on the Google website. I received two more requests for accommodation this morning. One for this weekend, another for June 2019. It appears that some potential customers are finding the Google sites rather than the main Grammeno official website. I suspected this might be the case which was the main reason for activating and managing the two additional sites. The restaurant site gets fewer hits but then the camping site has been in existence for longer. I just took control of it at the beginning of this season. The main site has probably received more ratings and reviews this year than in its entire life!

Lunch at Anydri yesterday

It’s not my imagination: it’s getting cooler. Today, I felt that first nip of autumn in the air. As we walked through the bushes then out across the field, I felt a slight chill. There was a cool northerly wind but it was not just from that. I was still in shorts and a shirt and didn’t need anything else but…

This evening, as we went out again at 19:35, it was a similar story as we approached the gate. A definite cooling feeling up from the ground. That said, it was 34℃ again today, so not cold, just that the mornings and evenings are beginning to cool down a little. Fido, instead of flopping down in the sand, is starting to use the large plastic dog bed with the thick blanket in it. I’m sure it’s not my imagination.
