Dog House Day II

The night was punctuated by revelry nearby and associated frivolous gunfire which caused Fido to reply. His reply, not the goonfire, woke me. He and I had a conversation at close-quarters so things were resolved and I was eventually able to get back to sleep. The alarm woke me in the midst of some complicated dream. We set off via the main gate for the Promontory. The eastern sky was beginning to lighten and I could easily see that it was cloudy. It had been a little blustery during the night and was still so as we walked down.

Ursula was ahead of the game and sitting in the shelter of the rocks at the end of the Promontory. We are still in Dog House Mode so we walked nicely together the length of the Promontory three times. I think this may have been quite hard work for Luis as he often cuts the corners even though he joins me for the majority of my circuits. We were back in the camping by 07:30 so Ursula did her Pilates and I ran my daily circuit. There were a few raindrops as I ran so Ursula was packing up her mats as I got back. I went for a shower and waited a little before heading off to Paleochora.

The aims of my visit were to pick up the FTP ethernet cable, visit the hardware shop and go to Petrakis. There was no cable at the electrician’s but they said they could order it for delivery by Friday morning. The hardware shop had shelf brackets, screws, some hosepipe and also a key cut for the washing machine room. At Petrakis, I bought more fruit, cat biscuits and washing liquid. I had also called at the 1€ shop where I purchased a replacement shovell-aki AKA a trowel. I had quite a load on my return journey.

I had some admin to attend to before breakfast which was delayed until late. There was a gap in the day and then I went to return Maria’s key which I’d copied and fix Ursula and Tony’s chair and fridge. The chair needed a nut in the arm and the fridge had a problem with the temperature sensor which was causing everything to be frozen regardless of its location in the fridge. From there I got into some other small jobs and then it was time for tea and cake!

Ursula had only just baked some more banana bread which was still warm from the oven. After tea, we independently went on Evening Walks but I met a Dutchman who lives with his Spanish partner in Amsterdam. They had a dog but now content themselves with supporting those who look after dogs. At this point, Ursula appeared and Heidi came bounding up. The couple were somewhat surprised to see another dog that was identical to Oskar. I explained why, we parted and I continued a little way with Ursula who then turned for home. Or walk continued and I came back through the main gate and into the camping.

An Austrian couple with a young daughter were in their van near to the main bathrooms. The little girl was delighted by the dogs so we stopped for a chat. All but Oskar were relaxed. Later, her husband came back from the beach and passed us on his was to have a shower.

The dogs are now fed and hopeful for an invitation into the van. My supper, and action replay of yesterday is heating up in the Instant Pot so I shall get the dogs then eat.
