Disturbance

Oskar felt I should be woken around 02:00. He obviously realised I needed a wee anyway. Something was probably wandering around in the dead vegetation on the other side of the fence. Oskar needs little excuse to let everyone know he’s feeling threatened by anything. Most of his bluster is an attempt to frighten everything away so he doesn’t have to deal with it. I went back to sleep but all the dogs were fidgety so it was not actually very blissful.

We walked uneventfully other than the misplacing of Fido’s ball which appears to have been relocated elsewhere on the Promontory. Doubtless it will reappear at some point. Obi and Skinny did the first two, Charlie the second with Fido and Oskar the third. Luis was less reluctant than yesterday with the final lap. We played a little ball with the remaining ball however Skinny remained conspicuous by his absence. We came back without him and it was only when out jogging did I hear the sound of claws on tarmac and Skinny was accompanying me. I’d taken a lead with me in case of such an eventuality and we jogged together for the remainder of the course. He seemed indefatigable but was quite quick to take up his position under the decking once we returned. I went to the sea to get wet.

Breakfast followed and then my weekly call home. Antonis arrived to go to Spaniakos so I had to cut short my call to meet him in the car park. I didn’t recognise the car as it was the ‘new’ one of which I’m part-owner until August. It has air conditioning which works! We went to Spaniakos, saw the site then Antonis brought me back to the camping. He had to traverse the roadworks four times during that journey.

Luis was in a bit of a frenzy when I returned as I’d left him tied up under the canopy. Nothing was wrong except that I was absent. He’s out for the count having expended all of his energy earlier. He appears to have recovered from the wasp sting he received while I was on my weekly call. The wasp will not be stinging anyone else…

According to WindFinder, the wind will continue at its present level until tomorrow morning and then increase gusting to over 100km/h which usually equates to around 80km/h at Grammeno. Monday and next week should be calm. Today’s high is 33.8℃ but the wind makes it appear cooler.

I have some aubergines and spinach to cook up for tonight or the spinach will be past its best. Just off to investigate the fridge in the central kitchen but need to see that Luis doesn’t attempt to intimidate Obi into abandoning his food. I warned him off so he went straight over to Skinny. Good luck with that! Skinny has come a long way in the past few weeks so has plenty of confidence especially in respect of a little squirt such as Luis. Luis is now looking on at Obi trying to intimidate him remotely as he knows I’m watching him. Obi knows I’m here so can take his time. Life is so blissful…

It’s really blowy now, the trees are bashing against the roof over the van. The dogs have been fed and are mostly relaxed. As relaxed as they are when it’s very windy. We can hope there should be no FreeLoaders camping out on the Promontory tonight.
