Ursula, Tony and Heidi arrive!

An annoying mosquito buzzed around in the night so I hid under the covers to escape its attentions. Other than that there was some event in the night which caused Luis some excitement but then it doesn’t take much to cause Luis excitement! We were up and out by 05:45 heading across the field and onto the Promontory. It’s so much easier with ONLY six dogs!

The walk was unremarkable and Oskar ran out of puff early on. I’ve been doing more walking circuits on a weekend and not running but I decided I’d run rather than walk this weekend. All dogs were let off the lead and all dogs came back to the Collection Point at the end. I remembered to take some biscuits with me which may have helped. Luis is such a greedy little devil and one day I’m sure he’ll have my hand off trying to get the biscuit.

Back at the camping, I fed the cats then took Skinny out for his morning jog. I remembered to take my plastic bag as well as some money so that I could pick up a pastry for Tony. There were no chocolate croissants so he had to make do with apple instead. They are all very tasty anyway so he says. I try to give him healthier ones now and again. Not that anything steeped in oil and butter can really be ‘healthy’.

Tony and Ursula hadn’t arrived at the camping so I went into the sea for a quick dip and then back to start bringing down their stuff. They were unloading their car as I arrived at their cabin. For some reason, Heidi seemed pleased to see me and I took her up to greet the others during the unpacking process. Ursula gave me loads of jars of fruit which will go very nicely with porridge in the mornings. The fruit I had this morning was very good indeed! I look forward to trying some of the others. I left them to get unpacked as I would be making my weekly call home shortly and I needed to fit in some breakfast.

The afternoon was initially unproductive but then, revitalised, I swept and mopped the van floor and fitted the backboard to the other box which will contain the switches for my solar project. I’m hoping Antonis will bring me some old welding cable which can be repurposed as connections for the batteries. I also need him to make up some connectors to get from the terminals to the cables. He’s still working nights at Libyan Princess until it closes at the end of October so it’s a bit unfair to expect him to do much until November. If I can get the batteries and all the controls sorted then all I’ll need is the panels putting up and we’re done.

Maria told me she is leaving Grammeno tomorrow to travel to Athens as she has accepted a teaching post for the winter period. I think it’s a long time since she’s had a teaching job so she’s delighted. Apparently, she will be on an island somewhere but so far, destination unknown. Georgia is coming from Chania so it will be interesting to discover who will be taking over responsibility for running the camping as I doubt Georgia will want to do it. Watch this space.

Today’s high is almost the same as yesterdays. Even at 20:18, it’s still 25℃ and very pleasant sitting outside. Temperatures should remain about the same until the middle of the week and next weekend is still forecast with the possibility of thunderstorms and a small amount of rain.
