Poor Luis!

It was cooler in the night but not cool enough to deter a pesky mosquito which buzzed annoying round my head and nibbled any appendages I might have left protruding from under my covers. It was dark but starry. The moon is rapidly diminishing to leave me depending on my new headtorch to navigate the Promontory in the early morning.

I left Charlie with Luis and Oskar as he seemed less enthusiastic than usual and we did our circuits as normal. I swapped dogs around leaving Obi and Fido with Ursula on the final circuit. All dogs were released and all dogs came back before, during or after biscuit time. We returned to the camping and Skinny and I departed on the Pastry Run to purchase a mini pizza for Tony. Apparently, it was not all that great so I may delete that from the Pastry Rota. The Rota should go sweet, savoury, sweet, savoury and rotate on a seven-day basis. I have not totally perfected the system.

Following a shower and some breakfast, I passed much of the day fiddling around with mailboxes and transferring stuff over. It was announced that the print room computer which is old and wonky, had finally given up the ghost so I hurriedly spent time updating it to the changes in the system. The machine was purchased some while ago, however, for one reason or another, it was not adopted by the print room team. Now they have been forced to adopt it so I will not have to become the Bad Guy and make them use it.

Ursula, Eleanor and Tony went off gallivanting to Krios and to a small church nearby. Apparently, the drive up the track was fairly challenging. Fortunately, Ursula had time to create a carrot cake prior to departure so we were able to munch on that with a cup of tea around 17:00.

Eleanor and I went out with the dogs for the Evening Walk where we daringly released them all as we clambered over the rocks and back to the meeting point. All managed to return, some quicker than others. Obi seems to be getting the hang of coming back at the end of walks so long may it last.

We returned to the camping. Eleanor went to change her footwear and announce our arrival as we were going out to eat at Methexis restaurant which overlooks the east side of the Paleochora peninsula. It is not the first time I have eaten there. My first visit was with Janne and Erica as they are aficionados of many local eating establishments.

I got on with feeding the dogs, however Luis was nowhere to be seen, undoubtedly on cat-watch. I put his food in the van and called him but to no avail. I gave the bowls to the others then investigated the non-appearance of Luis. He came rushing up the lower steps onto the decking, speeding towards the single step into the van. For him, it’s quite a formidable climb, one which he misjudged on this occasion resulting in lots of noise and wailing. I helped him into the van then investigated the cause of his discomfort thinking that perhaps he’d trodden on something. It seems his misstep has caused him to pull muscles in his front-left leg causing him to adopt a three-legged walking method. This must be very tiring and inconvenient. Following my ministrations, he was suitably mollified to enable him to eat his meal so I gathered up the other dogs before joining Ursula, Eleanor and Tony in the car.

The meal was very enjoyable and there was a goodly number of customers in the restaurant. We are nearing the end of the season so I suspect many of the restaurants will be closing for the winter on Sunday. Methexis remains open all year round and has a large wood-burning stove to keep the customers warm.

Back at the camping, all was quiet but Luis was still unhappy. I let them out for a quick wander but I was tired and it was too chilly and windy to sit out on the deck to write my blog entry. I took my laptop inside but was asleep before I was able to do much including my blog.
