Property search

It was much nicer out this morning so we seemed to be back very much sooner than usual. The fact I might have got out of bed a little quicker might have had an impact. The walks were exactly the same as the previous day except that the sky was clear and I was wearing only one, thinner fleece.

Upon our eventual return, I fed the cats then rode off into the west up the hill to the Sklavopoula junction where I turned right. I’d been told about a plot of land for rent or for sale a couple of days previously but went into Paleochora yesterday to pick up food for the weekend. I found the plot very easily and have ridden past it on many occasions. The owner has attached metal for rent and for sale signs to the fence so I took down the number to pass on to Antonis. Better that he handle any transaction as prices double as soon as the vendor discovers he’s dealing with a gullible foreigner.

The piece of land is very large however I have no idea how much of it is offered for sale/rent. Hopefully, Antonis will find time to call the owner so that we might know more. With an idea of the price and plot size, I can think about its suitability. I understand that land in that location is supposed to be the cheapest as it’s right on the fringe of the community.

I discovered the Czech van moored down at Krios as I noticed his absence from Alonáki Beach when I walked the dogs earlier. I gave a cheery wave and said “hi” as I passed then turned round for the trip back to Grammeno.

The doggy breakfast had cooked so I set about dismembering the chicken portion and serving up the rice. It’s important to serve the rice so that it has time to cool down. The dogs were suitably appreciative and consumed all of the vegetables I’d secreted within.

I prepared my own breakfast and then had a sit down once I’d opened the small cabin doors. With breakfast out of the way, it was soon time for my weekly call home.

The afternoon continued with sunshine and a few windy gusts. There were even a few drops of rain earlier but these were from a couple of renegade passing clouds. The temperature made it to 21.5℃ and I understand from Janne it’s only 10℃ in Stockholm. He called for purchasing advice on a new tablet for Erica.

My trip to Krios wasn’t sufficient to satisfy my Exercise requirement so I put on my AirPods and cycled around the camping for twenty minutes or so listening to a podcast. I showered after my exacting exercise routine and went back to some rather noisy dogs who were burning off a little surplus energy. Under more normal circumstances, I’d be walking them around this time. Instead, they are patiently waiting for their supper currently lurking in the Instant Pot. I started to prepare it earlier but got bogged down with Janne’s tablet purchase.

Skinny is now sitting patiently in front of me in the hope that I shall leap to my feet to serve up some food. How quickly they adjust to a new routine!

Plot location about 2km from the camping by road.

Georgia’s dogs are barking for some reason. It’s getting dark and cooler so I shall shut up the tent and go inside waiting for my supper to finish off in the Pot. My schedule was interrupted!
